Guest Speaker:
Club member - Richie Reich
Everything Eels

Richard (called Richie by his friends) has fished from shore since he was six years old, fishing the east end of Long Island where he grew up, and then learned Rhode Island's waters when he moved to Narragansett 20 years ago. It's easy to say that Richie is one of the best surf fisherman in our area. He's a complete fisherman who targets not only bass and blues, but tog, fluke, sea bass, etc.  He fishes both plugs and bait and also makes some of the best "tin" lures for bass. Tonight he'll speak on everything eels and discuss the many ways eels can be fished live and dead. This is a "must attend" talk. If you have any questions on eel fishing, Richie will have the answer!

May Newsletter

May Meeting: Tuesday 5/19/15 Doors open at 6:30 p.m. meeting starts 7:00 p.m.
Topic: Hook, Line, and Sinker Night (Tackle swap & sale)

This is a good night to bring in fishing tackle that you want to sell, trade, or give away to fellow members. There will be "deals" for the buyers !!!

Year Long Tourney:

The Surfcasters’ season long tournament is underway having begun April 1st and running through November 30th with one important change from previous years. In keeping with the effort to conserve striped bass, members voted overwhelmingly at the April meeting to make this year’s tournament catch and release. For the most part other rules remain in place: the fish must be 28” or larger and caught from the surf in Rhode Island, including Block Island.

Obviously, the one significant change is that the length of the fish, not its weight, will determine one’s rank in the tournament. Therefore, there are three items you’ll need in your possession: a ruler or tape measure, a camera or phone to take a picture of your catch, and an ID card, which will be ready for distribution soon. Fish will be measured from the mouth to the tip of the tail, keeping the measuring device as fast as possible.

Your entry photo(s) and affidavit should be submitted as soon as possible to George Hunold, chairman of the tournament committee, or brought to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Narragansett Surfcasters. Ties are possible, and any disputes will be resolved by the Board. Blue fish will still be weighed in at a local bait and tackle shop.
